Message general on what im saying but this is as easy as i can say it right here.

Nitrous oxide when injected into a engine is basically focing more oxygen into the motor which is more combustion (power). Just like a SC or turbo it is forcing more oxygen into a engine which allows you to add more fuel which so in turn a bigger bang happens in the engine. Now when oxygen is vaporized it cools your intake air which also as we all know cooler air makes more power, kind of like how turbos feel stronger in the colder times. This also creates more dense air which also adds more oxygen into the engine.

So basically denser air means more oxygen in your cylinders which means you can add more fuel so you can create a bigger combustion (bang) and more power is created.
